This role is to be a Lead Product Mechanical Engineer within the product development team. In this role you will be part of a multi discipline team developing next generation Mpac products. As Lead Product Mechanical Engineer you will lead other engineers and coordinate with wider teams to deliver specific packets of work or projects as part of a Mpac Lambert product development roadmap. The solutions you develop should embed market differentiating USP’s and novel processes addressing known customer value areas within a commercially competitive solution. The role based in Tadcaster will involve you working as part of a global product development team.

Summary of the Role

To have an appreciation of our external customer’s varied desires and drivers including functionality, cost of goods sold, quality, regulatory, flexibility, adaptability, global strategy to mention a few. To understand Mpac Lamberts technological position in the market vs. competitors and align our work to strengthen this position. To work in collaboration with customers, suppliers, applications, product management and technical departments to identify and understand technology knowledge gaps and opportunities for improved value. To ensure we develop compelling mechanical concepts and solutions for automation machinery and systems to meet product development brief. To provide the mechanical design team with clear design briefs and schedule requirements. Manage the design team to ensure all concept, schemes, and detailed designs are reviewed and approved in line with the company’s standard operating procedure. To ensure all relevant design documents are controlled and archived in accordance with the company’s standard operating procedures. Support other departments in the adoption of new technologies developed within Innovations

Knowledge and Experience

The following outline a set of desirable/preferred knowledge and experience. None of the following should be seen as essential independently. Experience and knowledge of machine automation and specifically within the high-volume manufacturing environment with a focus on Medical Device and Healthcare. Experience of working in an innovative environment, conceptualising, and providing innovative solutions. Ability to perform the role of a Mechanical Designer for multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in presenting solutions to internal and external customers. Commercially aware of the effective use of resources, scope change and impact of decisions as well as the commercial reality our customers operate within. Ability to manage workload across multiple projects simultaneously. Critical decision making. Knowledge of British and international standards relative to the design and installation of industrial automation systems. Have experience of producing and approval of design documents. E.g., parts lists, P&I diagrams, electrical drawings, and software

Technical Skills and Qualifications

The following outline a set of desirable/preferred Technical Skills and Qualifications. None of the following should be seen as essential independently

  • HNC, HND with significant experience aligned to factory automation or BEng, BSc, MEng in a relevant subject
  • Proficient in the use of 3D design software Inventor and Vault, Solidworks also beneficial
  • Experience of planning software such as MS Project and Microsoft 365

  • Reports to Head of Product Development
  • Working relationships with: Innovations Team, Mpac Lambert Leadership, Mpac Group Technical/Innovations Teams, Applications Team, Product Managers, Customers, Suppliers & institutions.
