Here at Mpac Lambert, we know that exceptional and brighter minds make better machines, and that exceptional service requires remarkable people. Alongside this, we pride ourselves on finding and nurturing the finest minds and that’s why we decided to host our very first careers event.
On Friday 21st February, we opened our doors to students who were interested in gaining valuable insight into the wider manufacturing industry. Students had the opportunity to meet some of the Mpac Lambert team and learn about their career paths, whilst enjoying a guided tour of our facilities.
Experts were on-hand at the event to advise on the creation of a successful industry-tailored CV and how to plan and prepare for interviews effectively.
Apprenticeship popularity has risen in recent years and between 2015 and 2019, 1,806,500 apprenticeships were started in the UK. Apprenticeships are perfect for those looking to gain hands-on experience in the industry and our very own apprentices attended the careers event to talk about their own journey to joining the team.
We had great feedback from all attendees, with several students admitting they were unsure on a career path prior to this but had decided on engineering following the careers event.
“We have been running our apprenticeship scheme for over seven years now and we have a commitment to the development of younger minds entering the industry. Hosting a careers event seemed like the next natural step for us to continue helping students make those big career decisions. It also offers us the opportunity to highlight the many different career paths manufacturing has to offer, e.g. IT, sales, logistics, finance, administration and more. It was a great day and I’m sure this is the first of many”, says Mike Jennings, Module Technology Design Lead and Principal Apprentice Lead at Mpac Lambert.
Nick Green, Operations Director at Mpac Lambert said “It was a truly inspirational performance from our team for our first ever careers event. I had the pleasure of meeting some great young individuals who were extremely passionate about joining the world of engineering. This was exactly the right calibre of individuals we will be looking for during our 2020 apprentice recruitment drive. Well done and thank you to all of the team that made the event so successful!”
